Nigerians Need President Tinubu to Be a Magician – APGA National Chairman

NIGERIANS NEED PRESIDENT TINUBU TO BE A MAGICIAN – APGA NATIONAL CHAIRMAN

By Wole Adedoyin

In a recent interview program on AIT, Barrister Sylvester Ezeokenwa, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), expressed the urgent need for transformative leadership in Nigeria. Emphasizing the pervasive lack of trust in the country’s political leadership, he called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to assume the role of a magician, steering Nigeria toward a brighter future.

Ezeokenwa stressed the necessity for President Tinubu to look inward and diversify the economy, moving away from crude oil dependency. He urged the President to regain the trust of the Nigerian people through committed and meticulous efforts, particularly in the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda. This agenda symbolizes the restoration of hope that has waned over the years due to unfulfilled promises and unaddressed challenges.

The APGA National Chairman emphasized the importance of comprehensive constitutional reform, advocating for increased powers for the federating units. He pointed out that the current security crisis necessitates devolving more powers and responsibilities to state governors, especially concerning security matters. Restructuring, according to Ezeokenwa, is pivotal to solving the major issues plaguing the nation and creating a more balanced and responsive governance system.

Commending President Tinubu’s decision to remove subsidies, Ezeokenwa called for a thorough investigation into the subsidy regime of the past few decades. He emphasized that transparency in this matter would demonstrate the President’s commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring accountability within the leadership. He urged Nigerians to exercise patience as these critical issues are addressed.

Addressing recent labor strikes, Ezeokenwa praised the memorandum of understanding signed between labor leaders and the federal government, viewing it as a positive step. He reaffirmed his belief in a functional Nigeria and encouraged the President to focus on improving transportation and power sectors. Additionally, he commended the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and stations across the country, acknowledging the positive impact this initiative could have on Nigeria's energy landscape.

Barrister Ezeokenwa finally urged President Tinubu to seize this moment as an opportunity to be a transformative leader, emphasizing that the Nigerian people yearn for effective governance, economic diversification, security, and overall national progress. He expressed confidence in President Tinubu's ability to address these challenges and called upon all Nigerians to support the government's efforts in building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
